As a young couple travelling on a budget around Thailand we chose Akwa for its location (close to the main beach, Chaweng), its price and the fact it had a pool. Its location was good on the busy strip of road directly next to the beach, however our room wasnt where the reception was and was a two minute walk down the road. We didn't mind this as we liked the privacy but it was a little isolated for someone maybe travelling alone. The price was very good indeed, good value for money for a double room with a fridge, hot shower and air con. A sneak peek into some of the other rooms when they were open did reveal a difference in standard, our room although clean was a little tatty but we didnt have any complaints and I'm sure many of the other rooms are really nice. The pool isn't at the hotel, it belongs to a posh hotel across the street, its really very nice and on the beach but it was a shock upon arrival to find it wasnt at our hotel as we had assumed from the hotel description. All in all I would say a great hotel for travellers and people on a budget but not some where I would stay for more than a couple of days.

Room was lovely & clean. Staff with friendly & helpful. 2Mins from the beach. Good location. Use of pool & beach chairs from hotel across the road. Well worth the money. Would def recommend this hotel.

In one word - spacious. In two words - exceptionally comfortable. In three words - a design classic. My partner and I stayed at Akwa's Penthouse for a week in July and we would not hesitate recommending this suite to anyone considering a holiday in Samui. Granted, its location isn't exactly on the beach, but a leisurely two-minute stroll will get you to the water's edge without any hassles. Pick up the pace and you could do it in approx 55 secods. Not exactly a complaint but the woodwork on the patio could do with some marine varnish just to weatherproof it.

The room posted in the net are not as the reality, remote controls are not working and not have spare, it was wrong chose to book this hotel and I don’t think I will book this hotel again in the future.

Staff were really friendly and the bar/restaurant had a great atmosphere and amazing food! The room was really nicely designed and many quirky details which made the room unique. It felt very homely with a selection of books and dvds for chilling purposes. The bed was soooo comfy, didnt want to get up in the morning, and nearly missed our transfer because of it! Great english breakfast (hangover cure!) Everything was reasonably priced and the room was very clean. Excellent wifi connection in the room.

Slightly far away from main strip (about a 20 min walk) but cheap in a tuktuk.

Akwa Guesthouse is a very modern guesthouse, with good value for money, airconditioned rooms for a very decent price, on the low end of Koh Samui.

Breakfast is not included, although they do have an all day extensive breakfast menu.

I had read the previous reports about this hotel but from the pictures it looked a funky hotel, In reality, the decor turned out to be 'tacky' ,with cheap furniture painted in bright colours.I Stayed in the Penthouse with a view overlooking a mass of electric and telephone wires..There were the same cobwebs in the bathroom for my entire ten day stay and the bathroom mirror suspended behind the wash basin,hung dangerously,ready to shatter into pieces. No smoke or fire alarms and in the event of a fire is a complete death trap.I Would not recomend this to anyone.

The Penthouse is spacy and clean. But it is direct above the walking street of Chaweng Beach and it can get quite loud. But the place is quite cool. Good value for money.

The room had its best time a few years ago, but thats no biggy.

Pool staff were rude and would not provide umbrellas for akwa guesthouse customers. No luggage storage. Rooms are small.

Wonderfull guesthouse, great staff. Clean and very comfortable rooms. Absolute great value for money. Free internet in room. Beach and pool 2 steps from reception. I recommend and will be back for sure.
